There was always a passion for audio and radio communication. The first Sound Level Meter used was a Valve operated battery powered GR unit identical with the one pictured here. This one resides in the workshop as a reminder of days long gone. For those with a long association with Brisbane that device was located, along with a lot of other equipment which would now attract a Heritage listing, In the PMG Radio Laboratory in the basement of Scottish Union House, Eagle St Brisbane - long since demolished.
Peter survived a 35 year career with the PMG /Telecom / Telstra in the transmission and radio-communications discipline. Highlights included building the final analogue link around the continent (Katherine to Kunurra), and the first digital radio link across Arnhem Land (Jabiru to Nhulunbuy) earning two State managers awards for outstanding achievement along the way. The career path wound up when Peters last position was abolished in a restructure. Alternative employment was available in the company but wasn’t attractive.
